New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Here’s a crux of the story in a short video:

Original story (published on December 13, 2019) follows:

The reincarnation of the Android One program did attract a bunch of mainstream phone makers like LG or Motorola to promote this vanilla distribution. Nokia even went one step further and adapted the initiative for their entire portfolio of smartphones (minus the entry level Android Go devices).

Although it is still not comparable to the Google Pixel-esque software support, Android One is somewhat helping OEMs to speed up the delivery process of major updates. Take the example of mid-ranger Nokia 7.1 or Motorola One Power, as both of them picked up the Android 10 OTA a few days ago.

What about Xiaomi? To be humble, things are a little bit complicated here, as none of the Android One phones from the Chinese OEM received the newest version of Android so far. The company released Android 10 with MIUI skin for phones like Redmi K20, so the delay in the other front is quite strange.

Well, we have another ‘progress report’ from Xiaomi support. Considering the previous incidents, I would suggest you take it with a pinch of salt, but apparently the company is on the ‘final testing phase’ of the Android 10 update for 2018’s Mi A2.

To be frank, I don’t think they will be able to finish the quality testing phase (if there’s any) within this month, but hey, don’t lose hope! Xiaomi is notoriously known for rolling out buggy updates and pulling them back after a while, so we could see the same drama in the coming weeks.

On the other hand, Mi A1 is receiving a new update. As you may (or mayn’t) speculate, there is nothing new except the December security patch. The internal software version number is bumped from V10.0.15.0 to V10.0.16.0.

Will Mi A1 get Android 10 update in future? Probably no. Isn’t Mi A2 Lite based on the same Snapdragon 625 SoC as Mi A1 and entitled for Android 10? Yes.

THEN WHY…… stop right there! Take a deep breath and enjoy the colorful world (or learn to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM – the choice is yours).

As always, we have the download link of the full update package for the sideloading fans. Here you go:
