Delivering a long-anticipated update and withdrawing it after a while is a common scenario nowadays. OnePlus 6/6T owners are the latest victim of this incident. The Android 10 based stable OxygenOS 10 OTA brought multiple issues to the phone duo and was silently pulled back.

Redmi 6A’s Android Pie update was quite an eventful incident

Matter of fact, Essential also uploaded a botched up Android 10 update package on the launch day. We have even experienced the reverse drama as well, where a company (i.e. Google) pushed internal OTA builds to regular users.

Let’s conclude it: no one is free from these quality control issues. So be prepared to welcome another candidate in the hall of shame! Xiaomi is now gradually pushing new builds of MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 7/7S in India, replacing the older ones.

PiunikaWeb readers should remember that Redmi Note 7 as well as Note 7S (same phone, but upgraded primary camera sensor) were part of the first group of phones that received the stable version of MIUI 11. The initial rollout started at the end of October.

Nevertheless, the first build (V11.0.5.0.PFGINXM) of MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 7/7S is now replaced with V11.0.6.0.PFGINXM. Unlike the previous one, the new OTA is available to a wider audience right from the beginning.

At this moment, we are not sure whether Xiaomi engineers bumped the security patch level to the latest or not. However, they did include the November patch in the revised MIUI 11 OTA package for Redmi Note 5 Pro in India.

The Chinese OEM delivered the initial build with October patch around two weeks ago. Although we captured the OTA URL right away, a number of users notified us regarding the unavailability of the OTA via built-in updater. Similar reports can be found across the official Xiaomi forum as well.
