We have seen a lot of backstory about Roger, Rocks and God Valley in the previous chapters. And for some reason they are somehow connected to Oden and Wano country. Surely these will help solve the mysteries of Wano, including the lurking legend.

Unfortunately we will have to wait a little longer to see their connections to the current story since One Piece will be on break this coming week. With the consecutive big revelations in the previous chapters, Oda deserves a break this week.

In the meantime, let us review what happened in the previous chapters that might give us a hint of what’s to come. I would also share my theories on how these event would affect Wano arc.

The Reverie Incident

The first time I learned that Sabo was in Pangaea Castle to save Kuma, I was a little worried. Surely Sabo’s strength is sufficient to put up a fight against an admiral. But if we think closely about it, Sabo and the revolutionary commanders are still no match for the marines present during the Reverie.

The fleet admiral Akainu was nearby. The three admiral, Ryukogyu, Fujitora and Kizaru were present. And almost all the vice admirals, rear admirals and other officials were squires to the world nobles. If there was an incident involving Sabo, it would not have been easy for him.

The big news about the Reverie incident brought much sadness to the people connected to Sabo. This got us thinking Sabo might be dead. Yet there is not enough evidence to support this speculation.

My theory is that Sabo was captured. After Wano arc, Luffy will learn about it and rush to Mary Geoise to save Sabo. This time, he might ask help from the Strawhat fleet and all who can help him save his brother. We might even see Dragon and Luffy working together for the first time.

The Revelation of SWORD

In chapter 956, X Drake contacted Koby from Wano Country debrief him on the progress of what seems to be a surveillance mission. This confirmed the theory about X-Drake’s connection with the marines. As it turns out, X-Drake is not only working as a spy for the marines, but leads a special group called SWORD.

SWORD is super secret force of the marine headquarters led by X-Drake. Currently, the known members of this department are Koby and X-Drake. There could be more high tanking officials who knows about this including the admirals.

I suspect Smoker is either a member of SWORD, or is aware of their operations. If that is the case, there is a possibility that Smoker would be seen in Wano. Even if Akainu forbids it, we know Smoker acts based om his own justice. Then we might see another Smoker-Luffy alliance to take down the emperors in Wano.

The God Valley Incident

This is perhaps the most intriguing revelation in the history of One Piece so far. The Rocks pirates crew were finally revealed including Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom and Shiki. This pirate group reigned in their era as the strongest pirate crew.

However, their glory did not last long and ended during what is now known as the God Valley incident. The God Valley incident happened 38 years ago. It is when Marine Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger worked together to defeat Rocks.

The End of a Journey

One Piece chapter 958 begins with an ending of a journey. The setting is 25 years in the past. The same year Roger finally found One Piece.

Kosuki Oden shares his sentiments about Wano with Roger’s crew. Oden does not agree with Wano’s isolation from the rest of the world and intends to open the country’s borders in twenty years.

Oden returned to Wano with the same goal in mind. Unfortunately, Orochi’s plot thwarted Oden’s purposes killing Oden in the process. Oden’s wife Toki, prophesied that twenty years in the future, nine samurai with red scabbards will appear to avenge their family.

Using her devil fruit powers, Toki sent Momonosuke, Kinemon, Kanjuro, Raizo and Kikunojo twenty years into the future.

The Prophesied Night

Twenty years later, Kinemon led an army of 4,000 men to fulfill Toki’s prophecy. They planned an all out attack on Onigashima the night of the Fire Festival. They set port Tokage in Udon as their rendezvous point.

Momonosuke’s group arrived at their alliance’s rendezvous point on the day of fire festival. Their group consist of Kinemon, Kanjuro, Raizo, Inurashi, Kikunojo, Ashura, Kawamatsu, Shinobu and Momonosuke.

From there they were supposed to meet their allies, including the 4,000 men and their ships. But when they arrived there was no sign of their men and ship debris can be seen in the water.

We can only imagine what will happened in that port. Theories suggest that Law may have something to do with it. Another theory suggests that Denjiro disguised as Kyoshiro saved the 4,000 men and blended them in his army.

More details will confirm theses theories in the coming chapters. One Piece chapter 959 will be officially released after a 1 week break and is expected to be released of October 21, 2019 in the weekly Shonen Jump issue.
