This story is being continuously updated….new updates are being added at the bottom…..

Guess you are already flooded with articles related to Huawei (and Honor) updating a bunch of their phones to EMUI 9.1, so another one can’t do much harm – can it? Well, this time we got two mid-rangers from the Chinese OEM, and both of them are powered by Kirin 710 SoC.

Announced back in 2018, the Kirin 710 platform is fabricated using TSMC’s 12 nm process. The SoC has been used inside multiple Huawei and Honor phones, including Honor 8X – a phone that started to get EMUI 9.1 update merely hours ago.

We should rather concentrate on Huawei P30 Lite, the youngest sibling in the P30 lineup. The OEM used the mid range Kirin 710 SoC in the device, while the regular P30 and P30 Pro got flagship grade Kirin 980.

However, the phone retains the iconic triple camera layout from P30/P30 Pro, albeit the sensors are far from being flagship quality. It does support 18W fast charging, which can easily power up the modest 3,340 mAh battery in reasonable time.

Huawei shipped P30 Lite with Android Pie based EMUI 9.0. While the elder members of the family are already enjoying the enhancements of EMUI 9.1, P30 Lite needs to wait a little to get the update. Nevertheless, the OTA is finally rolling out.

FYI, the screenshot was posted by a Japanese P30 Lite owner. The timing is perfectly in line with the schedule posted by Huawei. A wider rollout has been started already, as experienced by users across the globe.

As you can see, the size of the OTA is quite large (more than 3.5 GB). After installing, you should find usual goodies like EROFS, GPU Turbo 3.0 and July 2019 security patches. The build also unlocked the enhanced low light photography mode in stock camera.

Besides P30 Lite, Huawei Y9 (2019) is the second Kirin 710 powered device to get the EMUI 9.1 OTA. Matter of fact, the latter is sold as Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus in China and we did wrote about the availability of the update for the phone some days ago.

The changelog is mostly identical with the P30 Lite one. Although the update is currently rolling out in batches, you can force it via the HiCare app in your phone.
