Chinese phone manufacturer Huawei’s Android Pie-based customized skin EMUI 9 has been a major concern for Huawei & Honor device users, especially during the entire US ban episode the company lately went through. Even during the rough time, the OEM didn’t fail to deliver the promised updates.

From Huawei devices like Y9 (2019), P Smart Mate 20, Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 Lite, P20 Lite, 8 Pro, to Honor phones namely Honor 7C, 9N, 9 Lite etc, EMUI 9 or 9.1 has landed on many devices in the past couple of months, and updates to several devices are still rolling out.

However, during the last week, we highlighted that EMUI 9/Android Pie updates despite being rolled on Honor 8X, Honor 8 Pro, Huawei Nova 3i and Huawei Y9 (2019) have been held back by the OEM on the Indian region devices. Why? well, Huawei/Honor says it needs further improvements.

In between all this play-pause game of EMUI updates, Huawei is now asking device users who are getting difficulty in fetching the EMUI 9 update to visit their Exclusive Service Centers in India to get their units upgraded for free.

An icing on the cake is this offer isn’t limited to Huawei/Honor devices in warranty.

we want you to be delighted for getting your device upgraded at absolutely no cost for both in & out of warranty devices.

That means, even the phones that are now out of warranty will be upgraded for free if they fall in the list of Huawei/Honor devices that are entitled for being upgraded. Here’s the list of the select models which qualify for “Free EMUI Upgrade”:

Huawei Y9, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei P20 lite, Huawei Nova 3i, Huawei Nova 3, Honor View 10, Honor Play, Honor 9lite, Honor 8X, Honor 8 Pro, Honor 10, Honor 7X (starting from July end), Honor9N (starting from July end).

This ‘Free EMUI Upgrade Campaign’ will be held from July 15 to October 12. The free service will be available only at Huawei Honor Exclusive Service Centers in India. Interested device owners can pre-book an appointment through HiCare app or Huawei India website.

So those of you who are in India and own a Huawei/Honor device and have been waiting for EMUI 9/Pie can get the update for free from the company’s exclusive service centers. Book an appointment and get going. Here are the details about the EMUI upgrade campaign shared by Huawei.
