Huawei ban in the US has got the company on heels. Considering that Google will be working with the Chinese OEM at least for a few more months, they are apparently delivering as many firmware updates as possible during this time span.

While Huawei P20 Lite has already received Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 update, the same has also been pushed to Honor 9 Lite devices this morning. And the list of Huawei/Honor phones getting Pie appear to be getting longer as Honor P Smart is also receiving EMUI 9/Android Pie now.

Huawei P Smart (aka Huawei Enjoy 7S in China), as you may know, is the company’s 2017 device powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset. The phone originally shipped with Android Oreo layered with EMUI 8.

And now two of the phone’s models, i.e. FIG-LA1 and FIG-LX1 have started receiving EMUI 9.1 (or Android Pie) update. As can be seen in the image above, the update has bumped the version to 9.1.0.115.

Apart from that, the May security patch has also been released for a couple of Honor phones. To begin with Honor Play – Huawei’s last year’s high-end phone – is receiving the May update (9.0.0.190). The changelog doesn’t state much other than that.

The second Honor phone that has received the May security patch is Honor View 20. View 20 is the company’s budget flagship that was released in December last year. Powered with SoC HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, the device shipped with Android 9.0 (Pie) and Honor’s customized skin Magic UI 2.

The currently rolling May update bumps the version from 9.0.1.165 to 9.0.1.150. And just like Honor Play, the update changelog in this case also doesn’t say anything else other than the monthly security patch.
