Honor, as you may already know, is an online brand that targets youngsters. The Huawei sub-brand expanded their X series lineup of smartphones by releasing Honor 8X back in September last year. It’s the OEM’s first ViLTE (Video over LTE) calling compatible device in India.

The phone is fueled with a Hisilicon Kirin 710 processor. This mid-range device was initially shipped with Android Oreo 8.1 and Huawei’s customized skin EMUI 8.2. Then back in March, the smartphone received the Android Pie/EMUI 9.0 update which bumped the version from 8.2.0.165 to 9.0.1.156.

But, were all Honor 8X units upgraded to EMUI 9? Sadly no. While the company promised to deliver EMUI 9.1 to 8X, many device owners are still inquiring about when is EMUI 9.0/Pie going to land on their units. And as far as we can see, the left out Honor 8X users are from the Indian region.

Some such users recently took to micro-blogging site Twitter asking about EMUI 9’s arrival. While reverting back to one such user, Honor India revealed though the update was rolled out, it has currently been held back for making some improvements to enhance the user experience.

We would like to inform you that Android Pie for Honor 8X has been already released but currently on hold due to further improvements on user’s usage experience.

In addition, while reverting back to another user on Twitter, Honor India confirmed the OEM plans to resume the roll out process sometime during the first week of the coming month, i.e. August. That means, Indian Honor 8X user will have to wait for few more weeks to get to experience EMUI 9.

We will resume rolling out new improved software update tentatively by 1st Week of Aug’19.
