A good number of Samsung smartphones have already been updated to August 2019 security patches. Sure, there are exceptions such as the Galaxy Note 10 that recently got updated with September security patches and the Galaxy Tab S4 that got July security patches.

But the likes of Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and even the Galaxy S7 have already received their August security patches.

The August software update is also available for the Galaxy Tab S6, Galaxy M10, Galaxy A8+ 2018, Galaxy M20, Galaxy A50, Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy J4+, Galaxy M40 & Galaxy J6, and so on.

The latest to join the party is the Galaxy A60, a device that isn’t quite easy to find in many markets across the globe. It has been around since April 2019 and finds itself in a tough battle against the already popular Galaxy A50 and the superior Galaxy A70.

The incoming update is here to improve the security of the Galaxy A60 as well as performance and general system-wide stability. It weighs over 585MB, so expect more than just the typical security patch.

The airborne OTA update is arriving as software version A6060ZCU1ASH3 and so far, the Galaxy A60 is still limited to a few markets in China and Hong Kong.

While a whole bunch of American carriers has already pushed the August security patches to their Galaxy S10 handsets, it’s only now that Freedom Mobile in Canada is rolling out the same update to the S10 family.

The OTA has been spotted on a Galaxy S10+ unit carrying software version G975WVLU2ASGJ and weighs nearly 500MB. But the changelog only mentions the August patch and the usual bug fixes and improvements.

This same update should also head to the carrier’s smaller Galaxy S10e as version G970WVLU2ASGJ and the standard model as version G973WVLU2ASGJ.

Bixby Vision update adds Amazon shopping to Lens

Samsung is also rolling out a new update to Bixby Vision as version 3.0.27.9 and weighs in at over 52MB. The update, as per the changelog, improves live translation performance and adds Amazon shopping to Lens for those using it outside China.

The update to Bixby Vision has been spotted on a Galaxy A50 handset, but we expect that more users on various Samsung Galaxy devices will receive it in the coming days.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
