Original story (published on May 20) follows:

Realme only has a handful of eligible devices left to receive the Realme UI 1.0 update based on Android 10 operating system. Among them is the Realme 5i that was scheduled to receive the OS alongside Realme 5 and Realme 5s.

While the latter two have since picked up Realme UI based on Android 10 albeit in beta, the Realme 5i Realme UI update remains elusive.

No one knows why exactly the 5i missed out on the initial rollout, but the fact that the OPPO subsidiary has been handling OS updates in pairs could have a bearing on this outcome.

First was the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT in January 2020 followed by the Realme X and Realme 5 Pro. The Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro was the next pair to get it in March and later in late April the Realme 3 and Realme 3i joined the party.

The Realme Android 10 roadmap above is older than Realme 5i. The former came out late last year, which explains why the 5i is missing. However, in a revised roadmap, the Realme 5i Realme UI update was promised to arrive in May alongside Realme 5 and 5s.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
