New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 29, 2020) follows:

Realme recently joined the growing number of Android vendors to jump on the Android 10 ship with an update of its own to the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT handsets.

The duo was meant to receive the update, which has Realme UI 1.0 skin on top, simultaneously. But the former ended up getting it first with the latter getting it some hours later after what seemed like a delay scare.

Nearly two weeks later, some Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT owners out there are still waiting for the update to Android 10. So, what’s going on over there at Realme? When will the much-awaited Realme UI 1.0 update actually arrive?

Well, read on for we have some answers to these questions.

Realme UI rollout for Realme 3 Pro and XT is staged

Most, if not all companies roll out software updates in phases or batches for that matter. That’s what it means by a staged rollout and basically explains why some Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT owners have received their Realme UI 1.0 updates while others haven’t.

The update is rolling out on priority

You might be asking how Realme determines who gets the update ahead of the other. While it’s usually a random choice of users, Realme is doing things its own way by creating a priority list. You need to apply to get yourself on this list and the sooner the better.

Those who applied before January 23 are receiving their Realme UI 1.0 updates as I write this. Again, the rollout is gradual, which is why some got the update on January 25 and others are just receiving it today.

Hey, we have started rolling out realme UI for the users who had filled the correct details in the form till 23rd Jan. Kindly follow these steps: Restart your device> Go to Settings> Software Updates> Choose”Download Now” and install it to update your device to realme UI. Thanks!

Those who applied after January 23 should expect their OTA to arrive anywhere between January 31 and February 7.

If you think it’s absurd to apply for software updates (which I think it is), you’ll be among the last to receive Android 10 on your handset.

The rollout is postponed? Probably not

The reason for rolling out the software gradually is so that the company has a small number of affected devices just in case something goes wrong with the initial firmware. It’s standard practice so we can’t really blame Realme here.

In the event of major bugs and other technical issues, the update can be postponed as the company fixes the issues at hand. At one point, it emerged that the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT Realme UI 1.0 update had been postponed, but this isn’t the case.

The fact that Realme already re-released a patched-up version of Realme UI for the Realme 3 Pro coupled by the ongoing rollout suggests otherwise – that Android 10 is coming your way sooner than later.

Official download link coming soon for Realme 3 Pro

Unfortunately, Realme hasn’t provided the official download links to the latest Android 10 firmware for both Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT. If anything, this could imply the company doesn’t want the OS on every unit out there just yet, again, for precautionary reasons.

But we have an amazing team here so we managed to get our hands on these download links for you. Realme 3 Pro owners can find theirs here while those on the XT have theirs here.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update.
