Google recently unveiled the first Android 11 Developer Preview. As the name suggests, this version is meant for Android developers and not regular users, so don’t even think about it. Want to know some of the good stuff it brings? Check out our coverage here.

For Asus ZenFone 6 (Asus 6z) owners, the wait for Android 11 could go all the way to late this year, at least if the ZenFone 5Z Android 10 update is anything to go by.

Speaking of, there is still plenty to learn about Android 10, so let’s save Android 11 for another day.

The OS hit the ZenFone 6 in November 2019, but even after receiving a couple or so incremental updates, including the most recent that fixed the double-tap to wake issue, there are still some Android 10 features missing, among them support for multiple Accent colors.

This means you can change the Accent color used in areas like the Quick Settings panel from the default Blue to one of seven options offered in Android 10.

To recall, the first Android Q beta arrived with four Accent colors: the default (Blue) color, Black, Green, and Purple. With beta 4 came four more colors namely Cinnamon, Space, Ocean, and Orchid, the colors that can also be seen in the ZenFone 6 (Developer options) as seen below.

But for some reason, there is no way to change the ZenFone 6 Android 10 Accent color from the default color, something that is annoying many owners of the device. As expected, the ZenTalk forum is where affected Asus 6z owners have directed their anger.

Below are some of their sentiments:

Accent colors aren’t working. Only default color is active and it’s unresponsive to other colors.

I was going to post about this too but I kept forgetting to do so. Thanks. I was wondering what this was supposed to do.

Some people even thought the inability to change Asus 6z Android 10 Accent color was a bug, but an Asus ZenTalk moderator confirmed back in November 2019 that it wasn’t. Instead calling it “a known limitation.”

Still, even after the most recent update, it’s still not possible to change Accent color on ZenFone 6 handsets running Android 10.

Just got the new update, it’s good and all but what I’m waiting for is accent colour support to match my setup. I know bugs and features are priority and all, but is there an estimated time for when we can except accent colours to be working? Also what are the main bugs the dev team is targeting right now?

Yeah i am also the one waiting for long time for that?

Yeah, I bet you also want to know when Asus will let you change between the Accent colors listed in the Developer options. Unfortunately, it seems the ZenFone 6 Android 10 Accent color feature is a distant dream that might never come true.

Apparently, Asus feels there are more important things concerning the 6z and the ability to change Accent colors isn’t one of them.

There’s no timeline for when we will get accent colors. I said a while back that we would implement it in Q but then we realized how much work it is. It’s a lot of code we need to go through to add this feature. Something we need to weight against the value. Because of this, whenever something more important comes up, it moves down on the list.

There you go! Asus, basically, has no immediate desire to change the way Android 10 Accent color feature currently works on the ZenFone 6. Thoughts? Let us know in your comments below.
