Original story (published on March 17) follows:

Realme might only be a couple or so years old, but the OPPO subsidiary already boasts a significant smartphone portfolio, more so in the Indian market.

Over the recent past, the rage in the Realme camp has been all about Realme UI based on Android 10 and VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) support updates.

So far, the former camp has the likes of Realme 3 Pro, Realme XT, Realme X, Realme 5 Pro and soon the likes of Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro will join the party. As for the latter camp, the list is a bit longer, with most of the devices still on Pie.

And today, Realme’s VoWiFi calling camp has a new member in the Realme 2 Pro. Although still expected to pick up an update to Android 10 at some point, it’s not just this time around.

For now, it’s all about the Realme 2 Pro VoWiFi support, a feature that many have been looking forward to. As noted, the feature is already available on several Realme sets, among them Realme X, X2, 5 Pro, 3 Pro & XT, as well as the Realme 5/5s/5i, 1 and U1.

Arriving as version C.27, the Realme 2 Pro VoWiFi support feature isn’t the only one included, as seen in the screengrab above. You also get the latest March security patch and the ability to go back to the previous screen/page by swiping from both sides of the screen.

The OTA package is quite heavy, weighing in at 660MB, so be sure to get a stable Wi-Fi connection to download the file. Also, OTA updates may take time to reach all units, so be patient as you wait for your turn.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
