Many fans expected that the Poco F2 (Pocophone F2) would be a thing by now, especially looking at the attention the Poco F1 drew upon its arrival in August 2018.

POCO by Xiaomi took the smartphone world by storm with the release of the Poco F1 powered by a flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset, a 4000mAh battery, a very capable dual 12MP camera, and so much more, yet priced at a fraction of the Samsungs and Huaweis of the flagship smartphone world.

Usually, smartphone release cycles last a year, which is why the Poco F2 should have arrived by now. The fact that the device is still nowhere to be seen coupled by the company’s shaky stance regarding the future of the Poco brand have left many fans confused.

Earlier this year, stories of a certain Poco F2 started showing up, but this turned out to be the Redmi K20 Pro, a device that has become quite the sensation, even prompting Xiaomi to get it a pal in other markets, the Mi 9T Pro.

Similarities have been drawn between the Redmi K20 Pro and what would have been the Poco F2

Looking at the sheer power the Redmi K20 Pro packs under the hood, it is easy to pick up similarities with what would have been the Pocophone F2. Furthermore, an alleged Poco F2 rugged case by popular case maker Spigen reveals these same similarities.

Apparently, the Poco F2 case shows off a device with a tri-lens camera on the back aligned vertically in the center, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a pop-up selfie camera. From the outside, this device looks exactly like the Redmi K20 Pro and Mi 9T Pro, but we don’t know what’s on the inside.

On the Poco F1 anniversary back in August, POCO by Xiaomi came out to remind fans that the company was just getting started, suggesting that there was hope for the release of the Poco F2. If anything, the Spigen case could be another hint that the Pocophone F2 is indeed coming.

Spigen has in the past listed cases of phones that went on to materialize just as depicted in the leaked images. The case maker nailed the design of the Galaxy S6 back in 2015, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, and even the Google Pixel 3a earlier this year, so there is some reason to believe the leaked Poco F2 case.

But then again, the fact that Xiaomi is still pretty much silent on the future of the Poco F2 could mean this is just another rumor that might never materialize. So yeah, take it with a grain of salt as any other unconfirmed report.
