Samsung threw around a couple of surprises with its official Android 10 (One UI 2.0) update roadmap that placed the Galaxy S10 series in January 2020.

Going by the developments that have since followed the One UI 2.0 update roadmaps, it’s safe to assume the release dates in question are for when Samsung expects to be done with updating the devices in question to One UI 2.0.

Samsung has not only started rolling out the stable Android 10 to the Galaxy S10 series in multiple markets across the globe, but also the Galaxy Note 10 in Canada, although the latter appears to have happened by mistake.

As the stable One UI 2.0 gets to more Galaxy S10 units across the globe, more feedback regarding the performance and stability of the OS is also beginning to show up via platforms like Reddit.

It is here that we find one of the strangest issues affecting some Galaxy S10 units after updating to One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. Apparently, the software is failing the Google Play Protect certification test, with the platform labeling it as uncertified.

Stable release of One UI 2 is still not certified by Google Play

Apparently, several other Galaxy S10 units that have picked up the new Android 10 update are experiencing this same issue, although others have no similar problem.

Granted, this issue doesn’t seem to be widespread, but then again, not so many S10 units have been upgraded to One UI 2.0, so we can’t really tell its magnitude.

Some of those affected say restarting the phone somehow fixes the issue while others say clearing the data solves the problem. In other cases, you might need a combination of these two.

After a few restarts and clearing data, it was certified again.

Unfortunately for some, this trick doesn’t fix the Galaxy S10 Play Protect certification issue after updating to Android 10. Considering that it doesn’t seem isolated, we expect that Samsung will address the glitch via a subsequent software update.

We will keep an eye on the story and update this article if and when Samsung addresses it.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
