Original story (published on February 3, 2021) follows:

Asus ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro users were a little disappointed when the duo only managed to receive January security patch in a recent update.

At a time when many device owners were looking forward to the release of stable Android 11 update, such disappointment is understandable.

The devices have been testing the new OS for weeks now following the release of the first beta in mid-October 2020. This build arrived a month after the older ZenFone 6 aka Asus 6z bagged a similar update.

But unlike its predecessor, the ZenFone 7 duo wasn’t treated to multiple beta builds. To be precise, the ZenFone 6 got over a dozen Android 11 beta updates during its testing phase.

Going by the latest developments, though, it doesn’t look like the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro will be facing the same fate. In fact, it looks like the stable Android 11 update for the duo could be around the corner.

Chiming into a conversation on the ZenTalk forums regarding the availability of Android 11 update for the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro, a moderator notes that users can expect it soon.

To be a little more specific, the mod says the stable Android 11 update for the ZenFone 7 duo can be expected soon after the Chinese New Year celebrations come to an end.

First we’re going to wait for Chinese new year and then hopefully it will launch shortly after that unless we find some major bug that needs to get fixed first.

As noted by the mod, this imminent rollout of the new OS depends on whether devs will find new bugs in the current firmware or not. Hopefully, all goes according to plan.

For those still in the dark, the Chinese New Year celebrations are slated for February 12, so ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro owners can expect the stable update to Android 11 somewhere mid this month going forward.

The update to Android 11 is the first for the ZenFone 7 duo following their launch with Android 10 pre-installed. Going by Asus software update policy, these two are still in line for an update to Android 12.
