[Official release date confirmed] Asus ROG Phone III & Zenfone 7 likely to release around July 2020

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on May 22, 2020) follows:

Last year, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm revealed the 865 SoC. Since then various OEMs have used the chipset in their new devices – Samsung Galaxy S20, OnePlus 8, Xiaomi Mi 10, Realme X50 Pro, Oppo Find X2, Black Shark 3, and Sony Xperia 1 II to name a few.

Qualcomm announced the list of devices that will sport the Snapdragon 865 SoC earlier this year. The list included the upcoming ASUS ROG Phone III and ASUS ZenFone 7. The OEM, however, has not yet confirmed anything about the release date of these upcoming devices until now.

Cut to now. If we go by the Taiwanese publication Commercial Times, the ROG Phone 3 and Zenfone 7 are expected to launch either by the end of Q2 or the beginning of Q3. Meaning, they could come around July 2020. According to the report, with the new-gen e-sports mobile phone, ASUS expects a sales growth of 30 or 50%.

Things are up in the air as of now, but as they say, there’s no smoke without fire. Though there’s no confirmation about the release of these devices, interestingly, the ROG Phone III was recently spotted on Geekbench and has also cleared the WiFi Alliance certification with model number I003DD.

The fact that the model has been approved is ample proof that the process of production is in swing, and the product should be unveiled soon. For a quick reminder, Asus launched its first gaming phone the ROG Phone back in June 2018. And almost a year later, in July 2019, came its elder kin, the ROG Phone 2.

And now, the ROG Phone 3 should make an appearance soon. The ZenFone 7, on the other hand, is the successor of last year’s ZenFone 6 (or ASUS 6Z), the phone that turned heads with its revolutionary flip camera module.

Fans have obviously got expectations from the OEM and are waiting for another surprise this year. Let’s see what out of the-box-thought does Asus have to offer this year. Hoping to soon see both of these revolutionary products hitting the market soon.

      Update (July 2, 2020)

Asus has made an official confirmation via its website regarding the launch of the ROG Phone 3 – which is 20 days from today, as seen on the countdown below (screenshot). You can check the current situation here.
