New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on April 6, 2023) follows:
‘iMessage‘ is the messaging service built into iOS and macOS devices. The Apple-developed app usually offers robust performance, but that doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment.
iOS and macOS users can easily access iMessage through their Apple accounts. It supports all the basic features, including sending multimedia, groups, and more.
However, multiple reports indicate that Apple iMessage is currently down or not working for several users, which prevents them from sending and receiving messages.
Apple iMessage down or not working
It seems that these are not the best days for some Apple services. We recently covered the long outage in the Apple Weather app.
Now, in the last few hours, social platforms like Twitter have been filled with reports related to the iMessage ongoing outage.

It’s worth pointing out that the issue has been around for at least a couple of hours. However, there is still no ETA for everything to work normally again.
Let’s hope the outage doesn’t last as long as Apple Weather has, whose functionality hasn’t been fully restored yet. The Apple team has not published any official word on the matter.
Meanwhile, users will have to resort to other alternatives in the messaging segment such as Messenger, Instagram DMs or Twitter DMs, among others.
We will be monitoring the situation to update this story as new developments arise in the future.
Update 1 (April 7, 2023)
05:31 pm (IST): According to the system status page, the recent outage with Apple iMessage has now been resolved.
