Original story (published on July 6, 2022) follows:

Many Instagram users have been frustrated over the past few hours as they cannot send or receive DMs because the feature appears to be down and not working.

In some cases, users report that the messages get stuck on ‘delivering’ while others say that messages fail to deliver. In some cases the DMs don’t load at all.

We’ve shared some reports from users below for reference:

The issue with Instagram DMs not working has been going on for over 10 hours at the time of writing this according to user reports.

A widespread outage like this in most cases would be resolved within a couple of hours. However, it appears Instagram is taking its own sweet time to fix the problem.

The company’s support also hasn’t shared any details regarding the outage or an ETA for a fix.

Therefore affected users will have to wait for an indefinite period of time to once again be able to chat or share posts via DMs on Instagram.

We’ll keep an eye out for any developments and will post an update if and when there’s something new. So stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
