New updates are being added to the bottom of the story…

Original story (from April 02, 2021) follows:

OnePlus has really struggled with the rollout of stable Android 11 to users of its various eligible devices. I mean, there is a 5-month gap between the OnePlus 8 series and the OnePlus Nord updates.

But then even after that, we saw OnePlus delay the release of the Open Beta builds for the OnePlus 7 series, citing issues with the always-on display feature, a feature that didn’t even make it to the stable release.

Then OnePlus finally rolled out the stable builds to the OnePlus 7 series and the OnePlus Nord, only to suspend the rollout yet again due to..you guessed it bugs.

We’ve seen the rollout resume and more and more users have been getting this update with little to no issues. For a moment, we thought OnePlus had it all figured out now but nope! We have more on this rollout in our continued coverage here.

Reports coming in now indicate that OnePlus is pulling the HydrigenOS 11 update to all its 4 OnePlus 7 series devices in its home market of China.

At the time of writing, we already had confirmation of the company suspending the rollout of Android 11-based HydrogenOS 11 to users of the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro in the said market.

History has it that these updates often start off with the Chinese HydrogenOS before then being ported over to the OxygenOS camp. That said, it is unclear whether this suspension of HydrogenOS 11 rollout will affect users of these OnePlus 7 devices on OxygenOS. We should know in a few days.

OnePlus was once the king of Android updates and it remains unclear where the rain started beating this company bearing in mind that it still maintains a pretty slim portfolio compared to its siblings, Vivo and Oppo.

Recently, we saw the company moving to shift its devices in China from its own HydrogenOS in favor of its elder sister’s more feature-packed and market-relevant ColorOS.

We can only hope that this move proves beneficial for OnePlus.

We shall continue to follow this development and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to our dedicated OnePlus section for these and more.

Update 1 (April 01, 2021)

Going by the latest information coming from OxygenOS 11 (global) users at least with OnePlus 7T/7T Pro devices, the update is no more available for download.

Just as the OEM has pulled back the buggy HydrogenOS 11 update, it appears they’ve rolled back the OxygenOS 11 stable build too. We’re looking for an official confirmation on the matter, and will update the story as and when we get hands on it.

Update 2 (April 03, 2021)

In an alleged response, OnePlus has acknowledged the pull back incident and have blamed it on the bugs.

Once the encountered bug is fixed, OnePlus will resume the rollout.

Update 3 (April 17, 2021)

OnePlus has resumed the rollout of OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series as OxygenOS 11.0.0.2. Find more details on the matter here.
