[Update: September patch] Xiaomi Mi A2 Android 10-based August security update up for grabs

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (from August 27) follows:

Xiaomi’s Android One family i.e., the Mi A series, offers the vanilla Android experience on top of relatively good hardware. However, the Mi A series has faced a lot of criticism because of buggy software updates.

The Mi A2 got the Android 10 update back in January albeit with some hiccups along the way. The device has been picking up monthly security updates ever since. Also, the Mi A2 Lite variant recently picked up the August security update.

The Global Mi A3 variant also started receiving the August security update earlier in the month followed by the European variant. Now, the OEM is rolling out the Android 10-based August security update to the Mi A2. However, the update is being rolled in batches as version V11.0.13.0.QDIMIXM.

While no download link for the update has been provided, users can grab the update as it is live over the air. Since it is a phased rollout, not all Mi A2 users will be able to grab it. However, a wider rollout might follow once the OEM verifies the quality of the software.

The phased rollout seems only natural considering the history of software updates for the Mi A series. Nevertheless, another Mi A device, supposedly the Mi A4, might not be on the cards as suggested by recent reports.

That said, we will keep tracking any development related to the Mi A series and will provide updates as and when more information becomes available. Meanwhile, other Xiaomi devices are steadily receiving the MIUI 12 update so be sure go through our dedicated tracker for MIUI 12.

      Update 1 (September 12)

Even weeks after release, the latest announcement post says the update is being pushed to random users. So it may take time to hit all the units.

Mi A2 has released an OTA on random basis and pushed in phrases for V11.0.13.0.QDIMIXM (Android 10).

Those of you not interested in waiting for the OTA to hit their devices can manually install the update using the following link:

      Update 2 (October 06)

Xiaomi has rolled out the September update for the Mi A2 as version 11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM. Apart from the boosted security, the update brings fixes for two bugs that were reported on the Mi A2 which are the split-screen mode missing option and the voice echo bug while making calls according to a report.
