This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on April 27) follows:

Xiaomi announced the MIUI 12 update today at an event in China, just as promised. Unveiled alongside the MIUI 11 successor was a new 5G handset dubbed Mi 10 Youth Edition, the new entry-level model in the Mi 10 series.

From the event, we have picked up a number of things. For starters, we know the devices that are eligible to try the MIUI 12 beta version ahead of the stable rollout.

Invitations into the beta testing program are ongoing, so be sure to check out this list to know if your device is eligible. Matter of fact, the beta rollout should have started by now, at least going by the timeframe Xiaomi revealed at the event.

Xiaomi is also adamant the stable MIUI 12 update will be ready by the end of June. When the MIUI 12 leaves the closed beta channel, the Mi 6, Redmi Note 5, Mi 6X, Mi Note 3, and Mi MIX 2 will also be dropped from future MIUI beta updates. We already knew about this.

Similar to previous MIUI updates, the update to MIUI 12 will be released in phases. Xiaomi says the first phase towards the end of June will include the entire Mi 10 series, Mi 9 series, Redmi K30 series, and Redmi K20 series of devices.

Next in line will be the Mi MIX 3, Mi MIX 2S, Mi CC9 Pro, Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, Mi 9 SE, Mi 8 UD, Mi 8 Transparent Edition, Mi 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Note 7. There is no date for this batch.

Do keep in mind that this MIUI 12 stable update schedule is for the Chinese market, which is why eligible devices like the Poco F1, Poco X2, Mi 9T, and Mi 9T Pro are missing from the list. These devices are sold in China under different names.

Having suspended the MIUI 11 weekly beta updates in March, Xiaomi now says the first MIUI 12 weekly beta update will be released on May 8. The devices targeted in the beta program are listed below:

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
