[Updated] Smartphone world is talking about Xiaomi MIUI 12 update & MIUI 13 development survey surfaces

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on April 29) follows:

Xiaomi is probably the only non-Google Android smartphone vendor that continues to overhaul the software of its devices for a period of up to four years. The company’s MIUI operating system often adds new features to older devices without changing the base Android OS.

These efforts show how the company’s software development team is dedicated to providing updates. Not to relent, the Chinese vendor has reportedly started the development of the next MIUI 13 update.

This coincides with the official announcement of the latest MIUI 12 update. Heck, the software hasn’t even left the closed beta channel in China, with the company promising to release the public beta on May 8.

But that isn’t going to stop Xiaomi from collecting some valuable feedback regarding the functional design of MIUI 13, a software update that isn’t expected probably until such a time in 2021.

Dear rice noodles in the community: Thank you for your support and love for MIUI! Update and perfect, never stop! Invites you to participate in MIUI 13 functional design research

This information was put out by the MIUI User Research Team on Mi Community in China. Check out the survey link here.

It’s nice and all that Xiaomi is already gathering feedback needed to build a better MIUI 13 experience, but with MIUI 12 barely here, it’s rather amusing that the company is conducting this survey. But hey, we don’t make the rules.

If interested, head over to this link and share your feedback with the MIUI team. For current MIUI 12 beta testers, Xiaomi warns you against factory resetting your devices at least before May 18 because this may delete some system apps. For more details, head here.

      Update 1 (July 7, 2020)

A fake app claiming to give you the MIUI 13 update is out on the Play Store. Head here to know more details.

      Update 2 (September 19)

IST 11:00 am: Recent development suggests that Xiaomi might have already started working on the MIUI 13 update, as an alleged MIUI 13 screenshot with new Power Off animation has now surfaced. More details here.

      Update 3 (September 24)

IST 06:04 pm: With the second round of the Mi Engineer Face to Face Q&A, Xiaomi engineers have offered some insights into the development of MIUI 13 stating that it is MIUI engineers are focusing on optimizing the animations to run more smoothly. More on that here.
