[Updated] MIUI 12 update testing program: Xiaomi warns users to wait for official release as fake programs surface

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on April 23) follows:

It’s official that MIUI 12 will be unveiled on April 27, which is next Monday. This is no rumor, but word from the company itself.

Ahead of this event, Xiaomi, through its official company and personnel social media accounts (Weibo), has been showing off some of the features that’ll be part of the MIUI 12 update.

PiunikaWeb readers are already aware of our coverage on Dark Mode 2.0, dynamic AOD, and the new camera UI with a customizable layout, among others. Between now and Monday, we expect a few more teasers from Xiaomi.

However, one thing the company is urging its fan base to stay off are the fake MIUI 12 beta testing programs that are now showing up online. In fact, we recently pointed out the potential presence of an internal closed beta version.

And now some sections are claiming Xiaomi has commenced recruitment exercises into the beta program, something the company is distancing itself from.

Weibo seems to be the source of these false claims, where potential applicants are being asked to answer a few questions. Apparently, getting a high score improves one’s chances of being approved into the supposed MIUI 12 beta testing program.

Even though we don’t expect the global MIUI 12 update anytime soon, Xiaomi has made a note in the Mi forums (India) urging fans to stay patient and wait for the official beta testing program to be announced via its channels.

      Dear MIUI Fans,
It has been brought to our attention that multiple fake MIUI12 testing programs were spotted across different channels recently. In the interests of our MIUI users, we hereby clarify that the MIUI testing programs will be launched only through Xiaomi’s official channels which refers to Mi Community and Official MIUI Social Handles. Please do not apply for any testing programs unless released across our official channels.

As it stands, the beta testing program will be confirmed after the official announcement of MIUI 12 next week. We will let you know about it, stay tuned.

      Update 2 (April 27)

While the internal beta program will kickstart in a few hours, Xiaomi has now revealed that the stable MIUI 12 update is planned to be released by the end of June. Here’s a translation of what the OEM said in their latest Weibo post:
