Original story (April 21) follows:

Reports from China claim Xiaomi has released a closed internal beta version of MIUI 12 update to select beta testers and there is a changelog to back this exciting claim as well.

Many Xiaomi fans should be gearing up for the launch of the MIUI 12 update next week followed by a recruitment exercise into the internal beta testing program. But before then, the company has reportedly issued a closed internal beta version 20.4.21 to select testers.

The information isn’t official, but apparently, about 60 beta testers from the internal team are now using the next iteration of MIUI ahead of launch. Since Xiaomi hasn’t made anything official – apart from MIUI 12 joining the MIUI community – it seems the screenshot below is out here illegally.

If the reports are to be believed, this is an OTA update for the chosen few. While we already had ideas of the changes and features to expect when MIUI 12 update goes live, the changelog attached to build 20.4.21 adds more weight to what have been mainly speculations.

Of course, the entire MIUI beta testing program is limited to China, be it internal or public beta testing. Granted, the changelog we have is in Chinese, but when translated (don’t mind some of the poor work from Google Translate), below is what the MIUI 12 closed beta update brings:

As noted earlier, the above details of the MIUI 12 closed beta update are out here illegally. That said, no one knows which device or devices are benefiting from the update.

Matter of fact, it is this lack of details that led some to question the legitimacy of this development, but one Xiaomi-centric tweep has come out to imply that this indeed real.

Well, since the launch date is almost here, it makes sense that Xiaomi should be having a working MIUI 12 build by now.

Update 2 (April 27)

While the internal beta program will kick-start in a few hours, Xiaomi has now revealed that the stable MIUI 12 update is planned to be released by the end of June. Here’s a translation of what the OEM said in their latest Weibo post:

The stable version will be fully upgraded at the end of June. If you want to get the first experience, you can apply for the internal test today and start to push it at 18:00 tonight!
