There are new updates that are being added to the bottom of this story….

Original story (from January 07) follows:

At a time when Google and Essential were rolling out the stable Android 10 update to their devices, Xiaomi’s flagship Android One device, the Mi A3, could only do with the September security patch.

In October, reports emerged claiming that the Mi A3 Android 10 update would be made available before the end of October as part of the month’s Android security patch.

But when the Mi A3 picked up its October security patch, Android 10 was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the firmware was still based on Android Pie, the OS it runs out of the box.

Fast-forward a month later and hopes were still high that the November patch would include the update to Android 10 for the device. But when the update arrived, the same Pie OS was still on board. Another disappointment for Xiaomi’s Android One fans.

The story was the same with the December patch, although reports of a potential January 2020 release had already surfaced.

The fact that Xiaomi had promised to bring Android 10 to the device early enough coupled by the lack of communication from their side regarding the delay has forced some Mi A3 owners to take some really drastic measures.

Call it desperate measures in desperate times or whatever you may, but hundreds of miffed Mi A3 owners have taken to the Change.org website to sign a petition for the company to release Android 10 update as soon as possible.

More complaints are still flocking Twitter regarding the same delayed Mi A3 Android 10 update, with Xiaomi promising to begin rolling it out soon.

How soon, though, remains to be seen. We only have to wait and see if the petition changes things in the near future, but hopefully, Xiaomi won’t be bullied into rolling out an unfinished product that is full of bugs.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
