OnePlus may have already pushed the stable version of Android 10 to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, but not everyone who upgraded to the new OS is having fun moments.

OnePlus is already addressing some of the issues in the early versions of Android 10 for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro with swift incremental updates. And while at it, the company hasn’t forgotten about those using older devices like OnePlus 6 and 6T.

The duo recently received its first OxygenOS Open Beta update based on Android 10. This update arrived about a week after a similar Android 10-based OTA was pushed to the HydrogenOS models in China.

FYI, OnePlus phones sold in China have HydrogenOS skin on top of stock Android while the global variants have OxygenOS skin. Usually, devices in the former market receive software updates ahead of the latter, which is the current case with the latest Android 10 beta update for OnePlus 6 and 6T.

As noted earlier, the Chinese models of the 6 and 6T were the first to receive the Android 10 beta update. A week later, the global units joined the party. Granted, the Chinese models are also taking the lead in receiving the second Android 10 beta.

The size of the update says it all – that it doesn’t bring more than the usual bug fixes and optimizations. When loosely translated, the bug fixes include addressing the gyroscope failure, auto-brightness problem, fingerprint scanner issue, and so on.

It took OnePlus about a week to roll out the first global OxygenOS 10 Open Beta to the OnePlus 6 and 6T after releasing the first update in China. Granted, the wait for the second global Open Beta should last about a week from now, but of course, that’s not guaranteed.

While there is a whole lot of excitement that comes with early access to Android 10 on your OnePlus 6 or 6T, you might want to hold back for a moment until many of the early issues are addressed in subsequent beta updates. Or maybe just chill out until the stable version arrives.

Either way, we will keep an eye on more related developments and bring you these stories as and when we get them, so stay tuned to our OnePlus section for more coverage.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
