Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Android 10 update arrives as MIUI 11 beta, brings October security patch (Download link inside)
The Pocophone community is getting furious due to the delay in MIUI 11 rollout. We still don’t know whether Xiaomi will provide Android 10 alongside the long-anticipated update.
FYI, the Indian variant of Redmi K20 already received stable MIUI 11 OTA a few days ago, but that was based on Android Pie.
Interestingly, the phone got the taste of Android 10 via internal beta channel in China, but Xiaomi decided to fix the bugs than delivering a half-baked build (*cough* Redmi K20 Pro *cough*). Redmi 7A is yet another phone receiving stable MIUI 11 outside China, but the underlying layer is Android Pie.
Well, that does not mean the Chinese OEM stops porting the tenth generation of Android to older phones. Apart from the top tier ones, they recently pushed Android 10 for midranger Mi 9 SE merely a week ago as closed beta.
Jump back to even older flagships, owners of 2018’s Mi 8 and Mi MIX 2S can try out Android 10 – albeit only via beta builds at this moment. Judging from the pattern, Xiaomi may take a month or two to push them to the stable branch.
The latest addition in the roster in Mi 8 SE, i.e. the budget friendly edition of Mi 8. Both these phones share a unique exterior design, blessed with a gigantic notch. However, the ‘SE’ variant features Snapdragon 710 SoC, a smaller battery (3,120 vs 3,400 mAh) and trimmed down rear camera setup (12+5 MP instead of 12+12 MP).
As you can see, system-wide dark mode is working in this build. Our readers can download the full download package from the following section, but remember – you might need to flash it using TWRP to overcome the server side validation routines.
