This story is being continuously updated….new updates are being added at the bottom…..

The clock is already ticking for Google’s this year’s smartphone OS Android 10, for it is speculated to arrive on Pixel phones and OnePlus devices in few hours. Android Q Beta on the other hand is already being tested by OEMs like OnePlus, Asus, Huawei, Xiaomi & others on some of the eligible devices.

Take for example Asus, apart from their current year flagship ZenFone 6 (aka Asus 6Z), the Taiwanese manufacturer released the Android 10 beta program for ZenFone 5Z devices couple of weeks back. The phone was basically launched with Android Oreo, and was bumped to Android Pie later.

And now 5Z awaits its second major OS upgrade in form of Android 10.

While that may take time, what’s good is the device is now receiving the not so latest August security update. Just for reminder, Asus has already pushed August security patches to ZenFone 6, ZenFone Max Pro M2, ZenFone Max Pro M1, ZenFone Max M2 & ZenFone 5Q/5 Lite/5 Selfie Pro. And 5Z is next.

Going by the official announcement, the currently circulating August OTA on ZenFone 5Z (ZS620KL) bumps the version from 90.11.162.88 to 90.11.162.98. Other than August patch, the update fixes the friDay wallet balance display glitch and also optimizes the sound quality of the device.

As for now, August update is being pushed only to the WW and RU SKUs. So users with 5Z devices in regions like India will have to wait for few more days. BTW here’s what the complete changelog reads:

【Release Note】

-Update security patch to 2019-08
-Fix friDay wallet balance can’t display issue
-Improve sound quality

Since its an OTA update and it has just been published on Asus software support pages for the respective SKUs, the download notification may take a few days before it arrives on every handset. So hang in tight until one pops up on your unit. But those impatient can of course download it manually.

For the time being, we have at hand the download link for the incremental update only (meaning, only those who installed the previous build 90.11.162.88 will be able to install the incremental patch). Soon as we get hands on the full update, we’ll share the link for that as well.
