Asus ZenFone 6 (aka Asus 6z, Asus Zenfone 6z and Asus Zenfone 6 2019), the Taiwanese phone manufacturer Asus’ latest flagship device has received three updates since its advent back in May. And every update has offered something or the other related to camera enhancement.

After all, the phone embraces the first of its kind flip camera design in the ZenFone lineup of phones. And apparently, Asus has been making all possible efforts to offer the best camera-related functionalities, features as well as improvements in form of firmware updates.

Device’s first update (16.1210.1904.115) added the ability to control the flip camera rotations with the volume key, taking pictures in Camera mode using Smart Key as shutter, and also enhanced the image processing speed & quality for camera Super Night Mode & HDR+ Enhanced mode (HDR++).

The second patch (16.1210.1904.116) brought along a popular camera feature – ‘Night mode’ on Selfie. Then the third one (16.1210.1904.133) enabled ‘Super Night mode’ on Ultra-wide camera and also improved camera rotation stability.

Cut to now. A new update bearing build number 16.1220.1906.167 is being pushed to the units. The patch enhances camera quality by optimizing EIS for video recording, improving the texture of supernight mode and reducing noise, and removing the evening color cast in supernight mode.

Apart from that, the update has fixed the flip mechanism in panorama mode, improved camera rotation stability and rearranged the position of “Retract camera” to 1st page at quick settings. Also, Mobile Manager & Cleanup Launcher shortcut has been added and call quality has been worked on.

Asus ZenFone 6 update (16.1220.1906.167) release notes

Instead of releasing the update regionally, the OEM has pushed the patch together for ZenFone 6 units worldwide, as well as in Europe, India, and Japan. But as usually is the case, the FOTA update will be pushed out in batches, and hence may take time to make it to all ZenFone 6 units.

Happy installation. Feel free to drop a comment and share with us how the update acts on your unit.
