Taiwanese phone manufacturer ASUS unveiled ZenFone series’ new addition ZenFone 6 a few weeks back at a launch event in Valencia, Spain. The phone is the talk of the town for its unconventional design that embraces a 48MP flip camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor and a massive 5000 mAh battery.

Powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC, ZenFone 6 is shipped with Android 9.0 (Pie) and ASUS’ latest skin ZenUI 6. The simpler and cleaner new UI integrates the currently trending Dark mode, new Smart Key for instant access to a range of commands and Smart Volume that adapts/controls intelligently.

To begin with, ZenFone 6 users can now control the flip camera rotations with the volume key by setting it to “Shutter, Zoom, Flip camera” in the Camera settings. Moreover, Smart Key can now be used as shutter for clicking pictures in the Camera mode.

It’s worth stressing, while v16.1210.1904.115 is the first official update that has been released for ZenFone 6, going by reports, some users in Italy are receiving another version bearing a minorly changed version number 16.1210.1904.116.

TuttoAndroid, which highlighted the ZenFone 6 update which is rolling out in Italy, stated the update doesn’t accompany a changelog, rather is just a general stability improvement update. It could be possible that both updates are basically same, just that the version is varying depending on the region.

Anyway, what’s good is that ZenFone 6 is now receiving its first major update that brings along a lot of camera-related enhancements. FYI the FOTA update will be pushed out in batches, and hence may take time to make it to all ZenFone 6 units. Happy installing.
