Original story (from May 29) follows:

The Pocophone F1 aka Poco F1 must be one of the most talked-about Xiaomi smartphones. Unveiled in mid-2018, the phone had enough time to gain the popularity it enjoys today following the delayed launch of the Poco F2 Pro, its true heir.

It took Xiaomi over a year to unveil the successor of the Poco F1. During this time, the device’s base OS had been updated two times from Oreo to Pie and more recently to Android 10, the final major OS upgrade.

Yeah, Xiaomi flagships receive two Android OS upgrades and we don’t expect anything different for the Poco F1. This is despite hints that the Poco F1 Android 11 could materialize at some point.

On the other hand, Xiaomi provides up to three or even four MIUI updates, although the latter case cannot be guaranteed whatsoever. With this in mind, it should be easy (?) to address the concerns around the Poco F1 MIUI 13 update.

MIUI 13 would be the fourth Poco F1 MIUI update

In MIUI 12, the Poco F1 will be receiving the third MIUI update. The device arrived running MIUI 9 and received MIUI 10 towards the end of 2018. In late 2019, the Poco F1 MIUI 11 update was released and in July 2020, the Poco F1 MIUI 12 update will also be out.

So, is Xiaomi going to loosen up and push a fourth MIUI update to the Poco F1? No one knows. But according to a Mi forum moderator, it’s still too early to be concerned by Poco F1 MIUI 13 update stories when MIUI 12 isn’t even here yet, something I agree with.

Of course, you can always choose to remain optimistic, but the truth should be out once MIUI 12 begins rolling out or maybe even after Xiaomi actually unveils MIUI 13, probably in 2021.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
