The MIUI 12 update reached many of Xiaomi’s eligible devices during the first and second rounds of the rollout schedule. However, the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 are still in line to bag MIUI 12 even after being listed in the rollout schedule.

Users of both devices have been waiting since a long time for the MIUI 12 update and now it seems that they have to endure longer. It was reported earlier that the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 stable update might arrive soon.

However, even the beta update was postponed for the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 after some time because it was unstable. Now, the OEM has once again postponed the MIUI 12 beta update for both devices due to stability issues.

Due to the system stability being tested, Redmi 10X, Redmi 10X Pro, Mi 10 Ultra, Redmi K30 Ultra, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 7 are postponed;

Xiaomi has recently released the Android 11 update version 20.9.8 for the Redmi K30 Pro 5G and Mi 10 Youth Edition in China. While it is still a beta update, it appears that the OEM has put the development of several other devices on hold because of the latest OS update.

Moreover, the MIUI 12 beta update version 20.9.9 has been postponed for the Chinese Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 variants. This means that a stable update is a bit far for the Chinese variants and even more distant for the Global ones.

This is simply due to the fact that the OEM releases all major updates in the home-country first. This is highly disappointing for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 owners as so many devices have already received the MIUI 12 update.

Nevertheless, there is some development for the Redmi Note 7 in terms of Android security updates. A new MIUI 11-based update is rolling out to the Indian Redmi Note 7 units with version 11.0.4.0.QFGINXM.

Here’s the download link for those who want to install the update manually:

  • Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
  • Codename: lavender
  • Channel: India Stable
  • Version: V11.0.4.0.QFGINXM
  • Android: 10
    • Type: Recovery

While the Redmi Note 7 received the MIUI 12 update back in July, it was only meant for Mi Pilot program members. The development of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 has been quite slow but there is still some hope until the OEM declares otherwise.

That said, we will closely track this for any developments and will provide updates once more information becomes available. Meanwhile, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker if your Xiaomi device is yet to bag the latest custom skin.
