Original story (published on August 31, 2020) follows:

Towards the beginning of August, Xiaomi had revealed its MIUI 12 update roadmap for India via a Livestream. The roadmap didn’t feature the names of all the devices that are eligible for the MIUI 12 update.

Instead, Xiaomi chose to provide the names of devices that will start receiving the update to MIUI 12 in August. According to the roadmap, the Mi 10, Redmi Note 9, Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, and Note 7 Pro were scheduled to get the update this month.

And well, Xiaomi has indeed released the stable MIUI 12 update for the Mi 10, Redmi Note 9, and the Redmi Note 8 Pro in India. Moreover, it has also rolled out the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7, however, it’s only available for Mi Pilot testers.

Now that August has come to an end, it appears that many Xiaomi fans have been left disappointed. This is because devices such as the Redmi Note 7, Note 7 Pro, Note 9 Pro, and the Note 8 have still not got the stable build for Xiaomi’s latest skin.

Apart from the update roadmap for India, the devices were also scheduled to get MIUI 12 in August according to Xiaomi’s Indonesian website. And device owners aren’t taking the delayed rollout lightly.

Many users have taken to Twitter and the Mi Community amongst other social platforms to voice their concerns regarding the elusive MIUI 12 update for their phones. We’ve added some reports (1, 2, 3, 4) below:

Earlier, we reported that a Xiaomi official stated that MIUI 12 will be released for the Redmi Note 9 Pro in September. As for the Redmi Note 8, Xiaomi has released an MIUI 12 beta update for the device in China.

Unfortunately, there are still no signs of the stable build in China as well as India. On the other hand, the company has released the stable MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7 in China. And like we mentioned above, it’s also available for the Mi Pilot testers in India.

Even the Redmi Note 7 Pro has bagged the stable update in China. Much like the standard Redmi Note 7, the Pro model has also got an MIUI 12 build meant for Mi Pilot testers.

So it seems that we can expect to see Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 12 skin roll out for the Redmi Note 7, Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Note 9 Pro next month itself given that the devices have already received beta updates or in the case of the Note 9 Pro, an official confirmation.

However, Redmi Note 8 users are still left in the dark since Xiaomi has chosen not to share many details regarding the rollout of MIUI 12 for the device.

Nevertheless, we’re keeping track of the status of the MIUI 12 rollout for the Redmi Note 7/Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8, and Redmi Note 9 Pro. Thus, we’ll be posting updates if and when new details emerge.

Meanwhile, keep an eye out on our dedicated tracker for the MIUI 12 update to know when it arrives on your device(s).
