The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro has been in line to receive the update to MIUI 12 for a long time. It released with Android 10 alongside MIUI 11 on top and was expected to get Xiaomi’s latest skin in August itself.

But for some reason, Xiaomi seems to have missed delivering on its original plan. This is because Redmi Note 9 Pro users still haven’t got the stable update and neither has the company rolled out a beta version.

However, we have been keeping tabs on the expected MIUI 12 rollout for the device. And a few days ago, we picked up a ‘Device Team’ member’s comment stating that the update may be released soon.

At present, the device is still running on Android 10 alongside MIUI 11 which is also confirmed by the latest MIUI ROM list for the Redmi Note 9 Pro that has been updated on August 29.

Naturally, users have begun to question Xiaomi regarding the status of the update. We’ve added a few user queries posted on Twitter below for reference:

And in response to a similar query from a user, Xiaomi’s General Manager in Indonesia, Alvin Tse, shed some light on the matter. In the tweet, Alvin has stated that the update will be coming in September.

Since this information is coming from a top Xiaomi official, we can safely say that users can indeed expect Xiaomi to begin releasing the MIUI 12 skin for the Redmi Note 9 Pro in the next few weeks.

IST 01:18 pm: According to a moderator on the Mi Community, the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro is currently under development. Unfortunately, the mod did not share an ETA for the rollout. For more details, head here.

Update 3 (September 18)

IST 06:00 pm: Redmi Note 9 Pro devices in India (sold as Redmi 9S globally) are now getting the MIUI 12 update as version 12.0.1.0.QJWINXM. For detailed coverage, head here.

Update 4 (September 25)

IST 02:20 pm: Xiaomi, through its official Indonesian Twitter handle, has confirmed that the company is working to see to it that the MIUI 12 update to the Redmi Note 9 Pro will be rolled out in October. More details here.
