The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is undoubtedly a great device with an impressive set of specs like a powerful Snapdragon 732G processor, a decent 64MP camera, and an ultra-smooth 120Hz HDR+ AMOLED display.

While most of its feedback has been positive from both reviewers and users alike, the device hasn’t really been free of issues.

These include screen flickering, proximity sensor issues, Wi-Fi bug, touch screen unresponsiveness, missing MIUI features, Widevine woes, and heating issues.

And as if all of the above aren’t enough trouble already, there are now several Redmi Note 10 Pro users complaining [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] about mic issues during calls.

I recently bought this phone, maybe a week ago, and I came to know that when I do video calls on WhatsApp its microphone doesn’t work right, the other person could not hear me until I keep the phone so close to my mouth, like we do on voice calls. It doesn’t have any updates pending.

Hello! Anyone of you also faced problems with your voice whenever you’re having loudspeaker calls using Redmi Note 10 Pro? Any solution? Thanks!

Device owners say that the microphone issues are mainly noticeable when on calls with the loudspeaker turned on. These calls can be regular calls or internet ones performed using apps like WhatsApp.

Those facing the issue are unable to effectively communicate over calls as they’re barely audible to the other party. The workaround for this, users say, is bringing the mic as close to the mouth as possible, which isn’t really a solution.

Reports of the problem have been flowing in for the past couple of months, thus indicating that the recently released MIUI 12.5 update is not to be blamed.

A software glitch that was present since the device’s early days and has been affecting select users is a more plausible explanation.

Also, as mentioned above, the device already suffers from proximity sensor issues. This coupled with microphone problems truly ruins the calling experience.

Thankfully, those facing the mic issues on their Redmi Note 10 Pro will probably not have to wait for too long for a fix as the issue has now been acknowledged.

A Mi Community moderator says that the bug has already been reported and a fix might be deployed through future updates.
