Oppo subsidiary Realme launched their newest phone Realme X in China a few weeks back. It’s the Chinese OEM’s first pop-up camera (48MP) device. Powered with Snapdragon 710 chipset, the phone comes baked with Android 9.0 Pie layered with Color OS 6.0.
Following the device’s release in China, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed the phone will soon be available in India. Then just recently, while reverting back to a user on Twitter, Madhav disclosed the company’s plan to bring Realme X to India in the second half of the year.
Taking another step ahead, the CEO has now spoken up about Realme X’s pricing for the Indian market and other details. Not only that, they’ve also shared information about Realme OS, Realme Store app, and other smartphone accessories that the company is working on.
Realme X’s price in India
The Chinese model of Realme X costs CNY 1,499, and there already are a lot of speculations about how much the device would cost the Indian buyers. Madhav has now cleared the air on the matter saying Realme X’s Indian variant will be priced between INR 18,000-20,000.
Well, that’s way higher than the device’s price in China (CNY 1,499 = INR 15,000), as well as the current mid-ranger budget device Realme 3 Pro (INR 14,000). Apart from the price, Madhav also mentioned that the device specs for the Indian variant of Realme X haven’t been finalized yet.
Realme X vs Realme 3 Pro – which one to pick
I am sure many of you must be confused whether you should wait for Realme X to launch in India or grab a Realme 3 Pro unit instead. Madhav’s take on the matter might help.
Calling Realme X a “premium mid-ranger budget phone” compared to 3 Pro which is a mid-ranger budget phone, Madhav says these aren’t the devices which will be competing against each other.
But if one still has to pick between the Realme X and Realme 3 Pro, Madhav suggests users should still go for Realme 3 Pro for it’s one of the best devices in its segment.
Realme OS and Realme Store app
As you may already know, currently Realme phones run ColorOS, the UI which is also used in Oppo phones. But now the company has revealed they are working on a new Android skin dubbed Realme OS. This comes after Realme started rolling out their own custom Realme Theme Store.
Madhav has confirmed that Realme OS in China is indeed being worked on. And the company will officially release it once ready. Not only that, they also gave a green go to Realme Store app saying it’ll be coming “very soon”.
Realme accessories coming soon
As for accessories, the CEO has confirmed the Chinese OEM does plans to launch a range of digital accessories (something like wireless earphones may be) in India soon. However, there’s nothing like fitness trackers/bands on charts, at least for the time being.
