Poco X2 MIUI 12 update supposedly restores Clean Master definition

The Poco X2 is one of the latest phones to bag the stable MIUI 12 update. Although Xiaomi had to pause the rollout due to bugs and glitches and it eventually re-released the update a couple of days ago.

Xiaomi hasn’t been having the best luck in India since a few apps from the company have been banned by the government. Most recently, the company had to disable all online content on the Mi Video app. Even the Mi Browser Pro is banned and Xiaomi is expected to roll out an update that will allow users to uninstall the app.

And that’s not all, the Chinese OEM has also disabled its Mi Community website and application in India. As you can tell, the company has to bear the brunt of the crackdown on Chinese applications in the country.

Of course, Xiaomi has been doing all it can to abide by the law. Thus, the company had announced that it will be releasing a new MIUI 12 update for India without the banned apps. Earlier, Xiaomi had removed the Clean Master tool which was also banned in the country.

But it appears that the Clean Master tool has been brought back. Many Poco X2 users are reporting that after installing the latest MIUI 12 update, the Clean Master option is available once again. These aren’t the only reports since a quick search on Twitter will come up with dozens of reports from users. At present, it’s unclear whether the Clean Master definition that’s being used at the moment is tied with Cheetah Mobile’s application or not.

Further, Xiaomi has not shared any information on the matter yet. In case Xiaomi has cut ties with Cheetah Mobile for its cleaner application in India but is still using the same name, this shouldn’t be much of an issue. However, if the company has accidentally brought back the banned app, it may land itself in rough waters.
