New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 7, 2020) follows:

The wait for MIUI 12 update to arrive in India for Poco X2 owners is finally over. The update is rolling out as I write this as MIUI 12.0.1.0.QGHINXM, tagging along the latest features, bug fixes and optimizations that Xiaomi has to offer.

We already knew about the imminent release of the Poco X2 MIUI 12 stable update in India. At the time, it was revealed that the device will jump straight to the stable version of MIUI 12, unlike the Poco F1 that is set to go through Mi Pilot testing first.

Indeed, this is what is happening. The incoming update, although still limited to select Poco X2 owners, is the stable version and not meant for Mi Pilot testing purposes.

Earlier today, Xiaomi revealed that a new MIUI version that gets rid of the banned apps will start rolling out to Indian MIUI ROMs soon. This had also been mentioned in regards to the Poco M2 Pro, which we also expect to affect the Poco X2 and Poco F1 MIUI 12 updates in the region.

However, we still cannot independently verify that the incoming Poco X2 MIUI 12 update has indeed dumped the banned Chinese apps, so feel free to share your experience with us via the comments section below.

Being an airborne update, it will take some time before all Poco X2 units bag the new update, so we have fetched the download link for you so that manual installation shouldn’t be a problem.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
