Google Pixel smartphones have gained a strong reputation for their incredibly smooth and responsive user experience. This prowess can be attributed to Google’s mastery in tightly integrating hardware and software within these devices. This focus on a clean and optimized approach has become a major draw for many users worldwide, fueling the Pixel brand’s growth.

However, the Pixel experience is not without its flaws. Users have consistently reported problems with scrolling and stuttering within several apps – a problem that has plagued Google Pixel devices for some time. Despite frequent software updates, including the newest March 2024 update, the issue persists. Reddit and the official Pixel forum are still getting new reports of stuttering continuing to affect the smooth experience on Pixel 8, Pixel 7, and Pixel 6 devices (1,2,3). Popular apps like Google’s own Chrome browser, YouTube and the Play Store as well as the notorious Reddit are among those most affected. Sadly, this was the same story after last November’s update and even after last month’s security update.

Google-Pixel-stuttering-after-March-update

With the Google March 2024 update introducing a large Pixel Feature Drop alongside 34 bug fixes and improvements, the lack of a fix for stuttering and scrolling issues in the huge changelog has been a source of disappointment for affected users. This long-standing and frustrating problem casts a shadow over the otherwise excellent user experience Pixel phones are known for.

Google’s emphasis on delivering a streamlined software experience is admirable, but issues like stuttering and overheating highlight the need for further refinement. Users will be hoping for a proper solution from Google to address this persistent problem and ensure their Pixel devices consistently deliver the buttery smoothness they’ve come to expect.

Who knows, maybe the reported switch to FOWLP packaging process for the Tensor G4 could be the beginning of a new era of cool Pixel phones with no signs of overheating issues.
