Some Google Nest users are facing widespread connectivity issues, with numerous devices incorrectly appearing as “offline” within the Google Home app. This is leading to a barrage of notifications claiming devices are powered off and disconnected from Wi-Fi despite them remaining fully functional.
Frustrated users report their Nest cameras, doorbells, and even speakers persistently being flagged as offline. Devices remain controllable, and internet connectivity is otherwise stable, suggesting the offline notifications are inaccurate. One user vents their frustration, stating that “Every few minutes I receive [notifications] that my Google Nest Hub is offline…But it’s online! I know it because it controls my lights, and because I see it connected to my router. That [is] incredibly annoying.”
Other Google Nest user share a similar experience (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), noting the issue extends across multiple Nest cameras and Google Home devices. Despite rebooting their network equipment and Nest devices, the false offline notifications persist.
Interestingly, affected users say no such notifications appear in the Nest app, only the Google Home app gets these offline notifications. Also, it seems the issue isn’t affecting everyone. I have several Nest products in my Google Home setup yet I haven’t encountered any of these notifications, so it could be regional or only affecting select devices.
Google has yet to officially acknowledge the issue, leaving Nest users increasingly annoyed by the constant offline notifications. However, this isn’t the first time Nest devices have faced similar connectivity reporting problems. We have documented multiple accounts of some Nest devices going offline in the Google Home app without actually being offline, so this would just be a repeat of something similar. But hopefully, Google will address and resolve the issue promptly, restoring peace and quiet to affected users’ Home app notifications.
