Nearly two weeks after it started showing up on some iPhones, Firefox officially announced that the native ad blocker is now rolling out on the app.

Through an X post on the official Firefox account, the company stated that support for uBlock Origin is here to stay. The post also highlights that iOS users deserve choice as well, and that ad blocking is available on the browser now. You can view the post below.

This development has been months in the making. Mozilla confirmed back in June that Firefox will ship with a native ad-blocker “soon.” On the iOS Firefox beta app, the ad blocker began rolling out at the end of July, and the support page went live soon after.

It appears that Mozilla might’ve adopted a phased rollout for this feature, since a reply to the main post on X states that some people in the UK haven’t received it yet.

While Mozilla has only announced it now, the feature has been live for over two weeks on the iOS app. As we detailed in previous coverage, the v154 Firefox update brought the native ad-blocker toggle to the Settings page, along with various other features.

When we tested this feature last month, the functionality was hit-or-miss. It didn’t block banner ads and pop-ups sometimes. Now, that issue appears to be resolved, since I don’t see ads in the expected places anymore. The only major remaining caveat is that the feature still does not block video ads, so you can’t use this for YouTube.
