New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 06, 2021) follows:

Battlefield 2042 is the successor to Battlefield V and is the seventeenth installment in the franchise. Set in the near future, the game no longer offers a single-player campaign.

Instead, Battlefield 2042 is an online-only game similar to the multiplayer Battlefield V game mode. Developed by Dice, EA recently released the beta version of the game.

Unsurprisingly, the beta does come with some bugs and issues, which we hope will be sorted out before the stable release. Recently, players complained that they were unable to pre-load the game.

Having said that, more bugs and glitches are slowly surfacing. According to some user reports, players on the Xbox are stuck on the main menu with no way to navigate around.

It says press A to play so I press A…nothing happens. I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled and I have gp ultimate which gives me EA play. So far no sauce. Help.(Source)

I’m on the screen where it says “press A to play” and nothing is working. I press A or Y and nothing. Assistance would be very appreciated 🙂

Players say they have tried restarting the game but it doesn’t seem to help in any way. As it turns out, there are two versions of the game in the Microsoft Store.

One is for the Xbox Series X/S while the other one is for Xbox One. Many have downloaded the wrong version of the game which is supposedly causing the issue.

Many also say that they are having trouble with shooting and sprinting with their character automatically shooting when they are deployed.

Just loaded into the early access beta. Im unable to shoot or sprint. Whenever I switch weapons it either is stuck on fire (primary) or shoots once (pistol) like its auto clicking them. Anyone have the same issue?
(Source)

I can’t stop shooting when I get into a match. I’ve changed my key binds multiple times between random stuff to default. Nothing seems to work. It also appears a lot of other buttons that are on default aren’t working as well such as sprint and chat. I even tested it in another game so I know it isn’t my keyboard or controller. What else could I do?(Source)

It seems that the keybinds are messed up for some, with no way to change them. Many say they are unable to reset the keybindings to the default values.

In case you are experiencing the same issue, EA is advising users to delete the “settings” folder in the “C:\Users\\Documents\Battlefield 2042 Open Beta” directory.

Battlefield 2042 beta players have also reported that they cannot use the DVR functionality on the Xbox to record gameplay footage. EA says that the issue will be fixed with the release of the Open Beta.

Also, if the EMP Blast effect remains on screen after you die in-game, EA says players will have to rejoin the server.

Last but not the least, if you are getting “Unknown Error” when trying matchmaking, don’t worry, since EA is already aware of the issue and said that they are trying to scale up their servers.

It seems EA is aware of most of the issues affecting Battlefield 2042 beta players and is working on fixing them.

We will be updating this space regularly until the beta is over so make sure you keep checking this space for updates.

Update 3 (October 09)

04:30 pm (IST): Some players are complaining about an issue in Battlefield 2042 beta where the weapons automatically fire without user input.

Meanwhile, a player bothered by the same bug has managed to come out of the situation by trying a workaround.

If you are also facing such an issue then you can also try this workaround suggested by the user, in case if it works:

OK, its fixed now for me! In Options unbind Keyboard and Controller under “key bindings” – “soldier”/”gunner” – “fire”. “HOLD (ESC) to clear binding”. Im using a Asus ROG Chakram wireless (Source)
