[Update: T-Mobile VoLTE] Asus ZenFone 6 VoLTE support in the U.S. not in plans, says support

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on June 4, 2020) follows:

If you are also struggling with low call quality or other call related issues on your Asus ZenFone 6 device in the US, then you might have to bear it with for some more time, because the latest statement from one of the Asus moderators suggests so.

You might be aware that the Asus ZenFone 6 or Asus 6Z (in India), back in April, received a security update which also enabled the VoLTE feature along with the VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) on the device.

However, the Asus ZenFone 6 users in the US, who sort-of desperately need this VoLTE feature due to the calling issues that they are facing, have been completely ruled out by the customer support.

As per one of the Asus moderators, although they are aware of the VoLTE being one of the demanded features, there are no active plans to bring this essential feature to the Asus ZenFone 6 in the US for the time being.

Here is what the actual comment reads by the moderator:

We are aware that VoLTE is a frequently requested feature. At this time, there are no active plans to support VoLTE in the US for ZenFone 6.

Rest assured that we read all of the feedback and are very aware that US customers would like to see the feature in the future.

Taking a look at the comments section of this post, we can see that majority of the users are not happy with what the moderator has stated and the issue is widerspread.

And such a widespread issue demands a fix from the OEM which, we can clearly see from the statement, where Asus has no plans of bringing in anytime soon. Let us know what are your thoughts on this whole situation.

      Update 1 (August 13)

According to a ZenTalk moderator, Asus is working with T-Mobile and AT&T to bring VoLTE support for the ROG Phone 2. Unfortunately, there was no word about the possibility for the function to arrive for the ZenFone 6. See the full story here.

      Update 2 (October 06)

Asus has released a new update for the ZenFone 6 which brings some bug fixes and also enables VoLTE on T-Mobile. It is rolling out as version 18.0610.2009.63. We’ve added a user-shared screenshot of the update below:

      Update 3 (December 23)

Asus 6Z (aka Asus ZenFone 6) is getting a new Android 10-based security update which enables VoLTE on T-Mobile (US). However, a ZenTalk moderator had stated that the T-Mobile (US) VoLTE support would come along with Android 11 before January 2021. More on that here.

      Update 4 (December 28)

Users are not able to use VoLTE on their T-Mobile Asus ZenFone 6 (aka Asus 6Z) units even though support for the same arrived pretty recently. As per a user report, this is a known issue and Asus is working to resolve it. Full coverage here.
