Asus reportedly looking into T-Mobile ZenFone 6 VoLTE issue after recent update

Asus as a brand might be well known for its consumer PCs and laptop business but the company is also a formidable player in the smartphone market.

Of course, it won’t rival the industry titans like Apple and Samsung but its devices also pack a mean punch, often at a pretty attractive price.

      Asus ZenFone 6

The ZenFone 6, sold in India as Asus 6z, remains a solid option for anyone in the market for a decent smartphone experience. It’s got the Snapdragon 855, 6-8GB of RAM and 128-256GB of storage, all kept running by a generous 5000mAh battery cell.

For what this device packs in specs, its software has been a bit of a letdown. See, users of the ZenFone 6 have been facing issues with the device’s VoLTE support, although that’s being looked into.

Users of the ZenFone 6 on T-Mobile recently received an update that, among other things, was set to finally bring support for VoLTE to their devices.

As it turns out, the update wasn’t exactly fruitful. This, because users of the ZenFone 6 on T-Mobile are still unable to take advantage of this feature on their devices.

I have it turned on on my phone but not seeing the volte logo on calls?

My mobile data is showing 3g and h+ while on calls. There’s no indication that VOLTE is turned on either even tho it is on my phone.

It appears as though T-Mobile users of this ZenFone 6 have struck out once again as a company rep was reportedly quoted saying that their devices would only get support for VoLTE with the update to Android 11.

I just spoke to a customer support supervisor. Information distribution both internally at ASUS and to their customers has been garbage. After some digging, they apparently know VoLTE isn’t working yet and they’re looking to fix it, probably with the android 11 update. I was told not to throw my phone away because they expect to have it working at least.

This is a problem as many U.S. carriers are looking to phase out legacy cellular standards such as 3G in 2021, standards that these devices rely on to make and receive calls and SMS.

Am I the only one still having issues with the volte at this point? It shows it is provisioned, but still can’t make a call over LTE. Starting to get worried about the beginning of the year at this point.

Should VoLTE support not have been added properly to this device at the time of switching (January 1), users of the ZenFone 6 risk getting kicked out of the network altogether.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this story and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned.
