[Update: Unofficial ROM released] Nokia 8 and Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 10 update seekers launch petitions, signed by hundreds until now

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 25, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi Mi A-series devices have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Matter of fact, the Mi A-series has been dubbed as one of the most controversial lineups from Xiaomi in terms of receiving Android 10 updates.

Previously, we have reported about the petition by the users of Mi A2 demanding Android 10 update which has been signed by hundreds. In fact, Mi A3 users also have already filed a petition for the Android 10 update.

Now users of another A-series device, i.e. the Xiaomi Mi A1 have filed a petition on Change.org demanding Android 10 update. The number of users who have signed the petition is growing continuously at present, it stands at around 556.

Earlier we have reported that Xiaomi’s support has already confirmed that the Android 10 update for the Mi A1 is not in the pipeline. However, the Android 10 update is available for the device via the LineageOS 17.1.

And looking at the current scenario, it seems like filing for a petition has become a trend for forcing OEMs for the updates as Nokia 8 users have also filed a petition demanding Android 10 as well LineageOS ROM.

Keep in mind that Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 9 PureView, and Nokia 8.1 have already been served with the Android 10 update while the Nokia 8 was left out despite having a capable processor onboard.

Now coming back to the petition for Android 10 and LineageOS support for Nokia 8, at the time of writing this post, the number of users who have signed this petition is at 577.

Taking a cue from user reports on Reddit about this petition, the majority of the users feel it is unlikely that HMD Global or Nokia will do anything in this regard.

In the meantime, all we can do is wait and watch for any further developments in this regard. And we will keep you in the loop until there are some concrete info regarding the matter for Nokia 8 and Mi A1.

      Update 1 (November 05)

While Nokia won’t be releasing the Android 10 update for the Nokia 8, the first Android 10 ROM is now available for the device in the form of an unofficial LineageOS 17.1 ROM. You can head here to download it.
