New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on September 30, 2020) follows:

Realme has got to be the youngest Android phone maker we have today. In a bid to differentiate itself from its mother company, Oppo, Realme is striving to do things a little differently.

First, the company is incredibly user-oriented. It is not uncommon to see the company posting helpful guides and answering user queries in the regularly-published FAQs on its community forums.

The same level of exuberance is translated into how the company carries out its software development and testing. This process too involves users to a high degree.

The Realme C2 was unveiled back in May 2019 and it offers users an incredible value for money, especially in its target market segment.

It launched with Android 9 Pie out of the box with ColorOS 6 Lite. It packs 2-3GB of RAM and equally modest storage options. All in all, a nice little package for a decent smartphone experience.

Android 10 for this device has proved elusive although we recently got word on the company’s plans and timelines for the same.

Following the early access program back in August, today, Realme is announcing the opening of the Android 10-based Realme UI stable update channel for users of this econobox.

While this update will be rolled out to all users of the Realme C2 eventually, Realme is choosing a much more conservative approach, at least for now.

The company is asking users who would like to participate in this program to tender their applications. It further adds that this exercise did start on September 29 and interested users are asked to keep an eye on the Application channel.

There are a few important things to note before diving into the stable update channel. If you want to update your Realme C2 to Android 10, read through these notes first.

1. Read the “Reminder” and “Stable Release Plan” to understand the risks and plans.
2. Read “Attention & Instructions” and “Common issues” for the update methods.
3. Follow the “Attention & Instructions” to set your phones before updating (e.g update to the latest version & back up data etc.)
4. Read and agree to “Important Notes” and “Privacy Policy”.

5. Apply to join the Stable Release in Software update interface, upgrade to realme UI Stable Release version.
6. Start your realme UI Stable Release journey.

The above-mentioned Reminders, Release Plan and Instructions can be found here. Below is a summary of the same.

Before applying for this Android 10 program, you will need to have your Realme C2 running the latest A.29 software update with version number RMX1941EX_11.A.29.

You will then need to go to Settings> Software Update> Click the top right button> Enter Trial Version Upgrade, and choose the Stable Release.
