The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE released back in 2019 and packed in decent specification for its price. On the software front, it came with Android 9 Pie onboard alongside MIUI 10.3.3. Since then, the company released the Android 10 update for the device.

Moreover, it also picked up the MIUI 11 update towards the end of 2019. Recently, Xiaomi announced its brand new skin over Android called MIUI 12 in China. And the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE was on the list of eligible devices to receive the MIUI 12 update.

Needless to say, Mi 9 SE users have been waiting for the update to arrive on their devices for a while now. It appears that the wait is now over for users in China. This is because the stable MIUI 12 update has been finally released for the phone.

The first stable MIUI 12 update for the Mi 9 SE comes as version V12.0.1.0.QFBCNXM which has been bumped up from the previous MIUI 11-based version V11.0.3.0.QFBCNXM. As expected, it brings a bunch of new features and improvements to the phone.

The update is currently being pushed via OTA to Mi 9 SE units in China with a download size of 817MB. In case you haven’t yet got the update on your device, don’t fret. You can download and install the new update manually from the link below:

Make sure to create a backup of the files on your device before proceeding to avoid the loss of data. Nonetheless, while users in China can enjoy the latest skin, there’s no ETA for the update to arrive on global units.

However, Xiaomi usually releases updates to global units or other regions in a month’s time after the China variant receives it. Therefore, we can expect to see MIUI 12 release for the global Mi 9 SE in the following weeks.

It appears that Xiaomi has re-released the MIUI 12 update for the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE in China. The new update comes with the software version 12.0.2.0.QFBCNXM which has been bumped up from the MIUI 11-based version 11.0.3.0.QFBCNXM.
