Asus has been testing the Android 10 update for the ZenFone 5 since April. However, users are still waiting for the stable version as the OEM has not provided any information about it yet. Also, devices like the ROG Phone 2, ZenFone 5Z, and more have already bagged the OS update.

It was reported earlier that Asus ZenFone 5 received another Android 10 beta update with June security patch. Since then, there has been no development on the matter. It seems that ZenFone 5 users will have to wait a little longer as another update based on Android 9 Pie has arrived.

The official announcement came on the Asus ZenTalk community where the admin posted the update release notes for the Russian and Global ZenFone 5 variants. The update version 16.0615.2006.131 brings the updated Android security patch to the ZenFone 5.

Not much information is available about the update but the version number indicates that it is definitely Android 9-based. Users can now grab the latest update via OTA as an updated security patch ensures more stability and security.

However, users were expecting the Android 10 stable update for their ZenFone 5. This is simply due to the fact that Android 10 was released almost a year ago and many OEMs have already updated most of their eligible devices with it.

Also, Asus has been very discrete about the ZenFone 5 Android 10 update and it is still unclear when it will be out. While those on the beta version have an idea about the upcoming OS update, it is still incomplete and cannot be used as a daily driver.

Meanwhile, if you are into modding and custom ROMs and also own the ZenFone 5, you check out the Android 10 based Evolution X custom ROM by heading over here. It’s no ZenUI but it certainly offers some cool features so be sure to check it out if you are adventurous enough.

We hope Asus releases the much awaited update for the ZenFone 5 soon. Till then, you can go through our dedicated Asus Android 10 update tracker to stay updated on the topic.
