[Update: Stable rollout] Pocophone F1 (Poco F1) MIUI 12 stable update may hit devices in August

NOTICE: We’ve created an archive of all major developments related to the Pocophone F1 smartphone. We are continuously updating that page with the latest Pocophone F1 news so that you don’t need to search for information related to the device on a daily basis. Head here to access that page.

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 15, 2020) follows:

MIUI 12 remains the hottest topic in the Xiaomi community today. With each passing day, it appears as though Xiaomi adds one more device to the list of updated devices. We have a dedicated MIUI 12 tracker here.

From the tracker linked above, it is clear that Xiaomi is well on course to rolling out this build to its eligible devices. In the initial MIUI 12 roadmap, the Poco F1 (Pocophone F1) was expected to bag the update within the second round of rollout.

Since then, we have seen a number of key developments towards the roll-out of MIUI 12 to the Poco F1. First, we got reports that the update was likely to hit Poco F1 devices sometime between July and August. In line with that, we saw recruitment for Poco F1 users who hoped to be part of the Pilot test program.

Finally, we then saw Xiaomi kickstarting the Beta Testing program for MIUI 12 for Pocophone F1 back in June. Important to note is that India was excluded from that beta program.

Today, thanks to a comment from a Xiaomi Moderator, users of the Poco F1 have something to look forward to in the month of August. According to the moderator, Poco F1 (Pocophone F1 for the international market) might get updated to MIUI 12 then.

Even then, the moderator did not explicitly confirm that the update would come in August so it might be worth being cautiously optimistic on this one. Also, in view of recent developments, there is a possibility that this update could take even longer.

In his response, the moderator also points out that the Poco F1 has already received two major Android version updates and as such, it might not be in line for an update to Android 11.

      Update 1 (July 25)

The Poco F1 may indeed be getting the MIUI 12 update starting next week. This information is shared via the official Poco India telegram group. The update will first be available to users selected for the Mi Pilot testing for the device. See the full story here.

      Update 2 (July 30)

According to new information provided in a pinned message on the official Pocophone F1 Global Telegram group, the MIUI 12 update for the device has been postponed to next week, a week late than previously anticipated. Check out all the details here.

      Update 3 (September 9)

IST 05:46 pm: Poco seems to have begun rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update for the Pocophone F1 (Poco F1). The update bears the software version 12.0.1.0.QEJMIXM and is reportedly available to Poco F1 MIUI 12 beta testers. See the full story here.
