[Updated] Xiaomi Redmi Note 7/7S Android 10 stable update with June patch arrives in India, still no MIUI 12 (Download link inside)

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 10, 2020) follows:

Recently, we’ve seen Android 11 Beta 2 rolling out to eligible devices. This, at a time when the stage looks set for the official unveiling of this new version of Android. Even as this happens, some devices are yet to get updated to Android 10.

Case in point, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the Note 7S. Launched back in February and May 2019 respectively, these devices came with MIUI 11 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box and they both still stand at that build till now.

Both devices are eligible for an update to Android 10 and to MIUI 12 but little has been shared about exact dates when these are set to roll out. Back in January, we saw Xiaomi rolling out a Beta build of Android 10 for the Redmi Note 7/7S.

For a while, things went quiet until later last month when we got word that Xiaomi was planning to roll out Android 10 to the Redmi Note 7S within the month. We also saw Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update begin to roll out to some users in stable builds. More on that here.

Well, to further advance the rollout of Android 10 to the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7S, Xiaomi is today rolling out Android 10-based MIUI 11 to random users in India. The stable beta build bears a software version number V11.0.2.0 QFGINXM. The changelog hints to little more than an updated version of Android and a new security patch.

Xiaomi says that it is rolling out this update to a few random devices and that users who don’t get this build of Android 10 should wait for the official public rollout of the same. However, if you are adventurous and would like to manually install this firmware on your device, here’s the update firmware.

      • Device: Redmi Note 7/7S
      • Codename: LAVENDERINGlobal
      • Channel: India Stable Beta
      • Version: V11.0.2.0.QFGINXM

It is important to note that this is only for the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 7/7S. The Global, European, and Russian variants of this device have to wait for their turn.

      Update 1 (July 20)

Redmi Note 7 global units are now beginning to receive the stable Android 10 update. See the full story here.

      Update 2 (August 11)

Xiaomi has re-released the Android 10 update for the Redmi Note 7 in India. The new update comes as version 11.0.3.0 and it brings the August 2020 security patch. Unfortunately, it still comes with MIUI 11 rather than MIUI 12. See the full story here.
